Caramel Heuchera is a warm-toned coral bells prized for foliage that glows in shades of apricot, amber and honeyed caramel rather than the reds or purples common to the genus (Heuchera villosa 'Caramel'). Because it descends from the tough, hairy-leaved Heuchera villosa, it shrugs off summer heat and humidity far better than most fancy-leaf Heucheras. 'Caramel' was raised by French breeder Thierry Delabroye and introduced in the mid-2000s as a selection out of the Heuchera villosa line, chosen for its distinctive warm colouring and its greater tolerance of heat and humidity compared with earlier hybrids.

The leaves are large, lobed and softly ruffled with a gently fuzzy texture typical of villosa types. New growth emerges bright apricot to peachy-amber, deepening to a rich caramel-gold through the season and often taking on rosier, russet tones in cooler weather; the undersides carry a reddish blush. Plants form a rounded mound roughly 20 to 25 cm tall and about 40 to 45 cm across.
